How to use OCR PDF

1. Add your document

Upload a scanned PDF.

2. Choose your settings

Search the language picker and select up to three languages present in your document.

3. Download and review

Run OCR, download the searchable PDF and check recognized text against the scan.

Before you process

OCR uses your heavy-task and OCR-page allowances. Tesseract fast models cover 125 language and writing variants; accuracy varies with language, typeface and scan quality. Pages that already contain text may be skipped.

File limits and privacy

Guests can use this tool without an account within 25 MB combined uploads and 50 PDF pages per task. A free Google account includes 50 MB and 100 pages. Pro includes up to 1 GB and 300 pages, subject to the tool’s technical limits. Compare all plan limits.

Documents are processed on our server. Temporary results expire within one hour; Free account files are deleted after a complete download. Pro can save results in a private 1 GB library. Read how files are handled.
